At Karma Coin, our mission is to empower people to appreciate others and create a more generous world. We are thrilled to share some incredible news: our community is growing stronger by the day! In September alone, we welcomed over 1,000 new users into the Karma Coin family. This remarkable growth is a testament to the power of gratitude and appreciation in transforming lives.
Karma Coin 2.0 Launch: Join Us as a Validator on the Testnet!
But that's not all. We have even more exciting news to share. Karma Coin is gearing up for the launch of Karma Coin 2.0, and we want you to be a part of it! As we prepare for this major upgrade, we invite you to join Karmachain 2.0 as a validator on our testnet.
Why Become a Validator? Validators play a critical role in securing the Karma Coin network and ensuring its reliability. By becoming a validator, you'll actively contribute to our mission of creating a more generous world through the power of blockchain technology. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to earn rewards for your efforts.
Getting Started as a Validator Before you dive into validating, here's what you need to know:
System Requirements To run a validator node effectively, we recommend using professional hardware with the following specifications:
CPU: x86-64 compatible, Intel Ice Lake, or newer (Xeon or Core series)
Minimum of 2 physical cores @ 3.4GHz (4 cores recommended)
Simultaneous multithreading disabled (Hyper-Threading on Intel, SMT on AMD)
Prefer single-threaded performance over higher core count
An NVMe SSD of 500 GB (to handle blockchain growth)
Memory: 16 GB DDR4 ECC
Linux Kernel 5.16 or newer
Minimum symmetric networking speed of 500 Mbit/s
Ensure your system is configured to run NTP to sync its local time.
Dev Environment Setup Running a validator node requires Docker. If you're new to Docker, don't worry; we've got you covered with detailed instructions.
Read the latest testnet release and familiarize yourself with the changes.
Run your node using the Karmachain TN3 node docker image available on DockerHub.
Create Your Accounts To start validating, you'll need to create two types of accounts: Stash and Controller.
The Stash account holds most of your coins and is the custodian of your staking funds.
The Controller account is designed for validation-related transactions.
Request Testnet Coins To kickstart your journey, join the Karma Coin Testnet Telegram Channel and request testnet KCOINs for your bond. You'll receive 1 million testnet Karma Coins, which is ample for posting the validation bond and additional smaller bonds.
Bond Karma Coins Now, let's get your validator set up:
Bond coins in your Stash account. Ensure you don't bond your entire coin balance, as you'll need some for transaction fees.
Your bond amount must meet or exceed the minimum validation amount, which is 500,000 Karma Coins for testnets.
Generate Session Keys To tell Karmachain about your session keys, follow these steps:
Install Websocat using the provided commands.
Run the command to generate your session keys.
Save the hex-encoded result for the next step.
Submit a setKeys Transaction This step associates your validator with your Stash and Controller accounts:
In your Staking settings, locate your Stash account and click the "Session Key" button.
Paste the hex string value of your generated session keys.
Validating Now that you're all set up, it's time to start validating:
Access your Staking settings and click "Validate" for your validator.
Configure your reward commission percentage and payment preferences.
You can also choose to receive nominations; it's up to you.
Conclusion Congratulations! You've successfully set up validation, and your node should start validating on the testnet, earning you coin rewards in the next era (within up to 24 hours).
We're thrilled to have you on board as a validator as we continue to grow and evolve with Karma Coin 2.0. If you encounter any issues or have questions along the way, please don't hesitate to reach out to Team Karma Coin. Together, we're shaping a more generous world!
Stay tuned for more updates and exciting developments on Karma Coin 2.0. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey!
